Why sports?

Taking part in sports isn’t about the cheers, or the wins, or the bragging rights. It’s about way more than that. Playing sports helps girls develop confidence1 and important life skills, such as resilience and discipline2 that they need now more than ever. It also helps girls to develop their self-esteem and improve mental health.2

Always Helps Girls Build Confidence Through Sports Video

Yet nearly 1 in 3 girls drop out of sports during puberty, mostly because they don’t think they’re good enough or they don’t feel encouraged to keep playing.2 The pandemic is only exacerbating the problem with nearly 60% of girls disappointed that they have had to miss a special moment in their life, including sports tournaments, as a result of COVID-19 related restrictions.3

Together, we can keep girls playing

74% of girls think more support needs to be shown to keep them involved in sports2 and that’s why Always is teaming up with Malala Yousafzai, Rachel Riley & other inspirational women to encourage girls to stay active and to make sure they’re able to get back to their favourite sports as soon as they can.
